-TB SPOTLIGHT- Catch Me A Fish




Welcome back to another TB Spotlight where we take a closer look at Travel Bugs we've discovered during our Geocaching adventures. This week we look at a travel bug that we found on our drive home to Alberta from Michigan on July 27th of 2014. It was located in a cache in Minnesota called 2 Above, Louis Below which was a pretty neat cache that we drove up to down by the St. Louis River.



In this cache we found the 'Catch Me A Fish' travel bug and decided to bring it along with us on our journey home. 'Catch Me A Fish' was released back on July 7th of 2013 by its owner Dada Joka. According to Dada Joka, this travel bug was created by his son, who is an avid fisherman. The current goal is for the bug to travel to as many fishing communities as possible and at each new state or country that another lure is added to the chain, minus the hooks. As you can see there were several additional hooks attached when we caught this bug.

On April 7th of 2015, after not finding a cache in a while, we decided to re-release this bug at one of favorite locations in St. Albert; UA The Cache Effect. As of today, Catch Me A Fish has logged over 6400 miles.

Goodbye-Hello

As we look to the new year in awe and wonderment, one can't help but reflect on the past year. Most of the time our thoughts linger on the past with things that we should have done, or could have done but never did. For myself, I prefer to look at the things we did accomplish and though it might not have been what we envisioned at the start of the previous year there are still many golden nuggets that we can glean. In January, Tatterhood and I celebrated our 13th anniversary with a trip to Las Vegas. We took TNT_Lando along and he had a blast seeing a big city. Naturally, we found a few geocaches along the way. In February, we took an epic trip to Yuma to attend our first Mega geocaching event. It was an amazing adventure. You can check it out here . Needless to say we had a pretty good time despite everyone being sick. March saw us exploring a few new places such as Park Discovery in St. George and the city of Beaver in our new secondary geo-beast, Topaz. Later...

It’s been a while since we’ve posted about the adventures we’ve been on. As with all things in life, things get busy and other things happen and before you know it a year has passed. Ideally, my plan is to revisit the many adventures we had last year and the cool caches we were able to discover along to way, but for now we will focus on the beginning of our 2019 adventures. For many years we have tried to attend events, but every single time something got in our way of attending. This year we made a goal not only to attend an event but to attend a Mega event. One that we have had our eye on for the past few years has been the annual Yuma Mega event. After some humming and hawing, we made the commitment to attend. February has been an exciting month for us. To date we have managed to maintain our ‘days never cached’ find challenge and starting January 29th we began our new cache streak attempt to break 15 days in a row. In the midst of all of this, we have planned a trip to Death Valley which could prove to make or break our goals for the year. On February 9th, we began our journey south first to Las Vegas where we planned to meet up with Tatterhood’s parents, Joe Teton and Anyatoo. Both of them are tour guides for Road Scholar and do frequent trips to the nearby national parks. It being winter, their focus has been on Death Valley. To ensure we found our cache for the day, we stopped off at an off ramp not far from home. I scrambled up a good sized hill and discovered a cache near a memorial for a CAT operator.
