Night Cache

One night over the weekend, there was a wonderful full moon out and the temperature was above zero Celsius, so we randomly drove to a cache area. Once there we did a half mile walk to the cache and then bushwhacked to ground zero. Despite the great light cast off from the moon, the bushes still seemed eerie. Luckily all went well and we made the find. The stroll back was even better since the breeze was behind us. It was a great night. Sometimes night caching can be just as good as day caching... this was one of those times.

February has been an exciting month for us. To date we have managed to maintain our ‘days never cached’ find challenge and starting January 29th we began our new cache streak attempt to break 15 days in a row. In the midst of all of this, we have planned a trip to Death Valley which could prove to make or break our goals for the year. On February 9th, we began our journey south first to Las Vegas where we planned to meet up with Tatterhood’s parents, Joe Teton and Anyatoo. Both of them are tour guides for Road Scholar and do frequent trips to the nearby national parks. It being winter, their focus has been on Death Valley. To ensure we found our cache for the day, we stopped off at an off ramp not far from home. I scrambled up a good sized hill and discovered a cache near a memorial for a CAT operator. Seemed like an odd place for a monument but just proved once again how Geocaching helps bring notice to things you never knew existed. The rest of the trip to Las Vegas was fairl

CARW2010

March 13, 2010 marked the begining of our caching adventures this year. It started with the annual Edmonton Car And Release Winter Event... aka CARW2010. The event involved all area cachers hiding winter friendly, non micro caches in the Edmonton Region. The caches all get published on the same date and are then free game to grab. We picked the closest to our house to begin the adventure and when the starting time passed we came up with the First To Find (FTF). MadCapR joined us in an all day frenzy that led us through St Albert, Edmonton and into the acreages of Spruce Grove. In the end we came up with over 20 finds including 6 FTF's! It was a great day... hopefully one of many to come.

It’s been a while since we’ve posted about the adventures we’ve been on. As with all things in life, things get busy and other things happen and before you know it a year has passed. Ideally, my plan is to revisit the many adventures we had last year and the cool caches we were able to discover along to way, but for now we will focus on the beginning of our 2019 adventures. For many years we have tried to attend events, but every single time something got in our way of attending. This year we made a goal not only to attend an event but to attend a Mega event. One that we have had our eye on for the past few years has been the annual Yuma Mega event. After some humming and hawing, we made the commitment to attend. Sure enough as soon as we said we would go, we all got sick. Through sheer willpower and a lot of medicine, we were able to depart on the Friday before the event.
